Staple oils
- olive — The backbone. Conditioning, mild, slow to trace, cures hard given time. house range 62–72% of oils
- coconut_76 — Cleansing and bubbly lather. The dial between "gentle" and "stripping". house range 18–28% of oils
- castor — Creamy, stable bubbles. Small lever, real effect. house range 10% of oils
Additives
- Kaolin clay, cosmetic grade — Slip, a touch of hardness, and it anchors fragrance. house rate 2.0% of oils
- Sodium lactate — Harder bar, faster and cleaner unmolding. Earns its keep on the oval mold especially. house rate 10.87 ml per 1,000 g oils
- Spent coffee grounds — Exfoliant. Also deodorizing — a kitchen-bar idea. house rate 35 g per 900 g oils
Equipment
- 2qt stainless steel bowl — Lye solution — water goes in here, pellets go in after.
- 6qt stockpot — Oils, clay, and the whole batter. Heated on the induction element, blended in place — no transfer step. The lye solution is poured directly into it.
- Any vessel of at least 350 ml / 1.5 cup — Weighing NaOH pellets before they go into the water.
- Ovente immersion stick blender — Trace. 5–10s bursts, alternating with hand stirring.
